Tiger Club is a
self manager program.
The Brigadoon staff believes
students who demonstrate appropriate school behavior and are responsible
for their actions are a positive role model for their peers. We
believe that recognizing these students helps develop citizenship
and school success. The students who demonstrate that they know
the expectations, accept responsibility for their actions, and work
to solve problems when they arise will be recognized as Self Managers
in our "Tiger Club."
The classroom teachers nominate their students to be Self-Managers
because they demonstrate the following behaviors consistently.
- Come Ready to Learn
Arrive to school on time. Have all materials ready. Have all homework
completed. Maintain a positive attitude.
- Respect Oneself and Others
Treat others as they want to be treated. Keep their hands and feet
to themselves. Follow adult requests or directions. Always show
courtesy and use proper manners. Use equipment and materials properly
and return them to their proper place. Request permission when borrowing
items, and returning them promptly. Use respectful and appropriate
language.
- Keep Oneself and Others Safe
Follow rules for all the different school areas. Settle conflicts
in a non-violent way. Always walk in the building and on the walkways
around the school. Use crosswalks when crossing the streets and
obey safety patrol. Use equipment, materials, and furniture appropriately.
Stay in designated play areas. Do not bring weapons or dangerous
objects to school. Keep our school clean.
- Use Problem-Solving to Resolve
Conflicts
Use Kelso's Choice to help resolve small problems or conflicts.
Talk to an adult to solve big problems. Avoid spreadinr or repeating
rumors. Avoid encouraging a bully by laughing or watching. Get an
adult.
PROCESS
lTeachers can nominate students
monthly by filling out a form and routing it to all the specialists
that the student sees. If all specialists endorse the student it
is given to Mrs. Odell. If she endorses the student the student
is presented a certificate and badge to officially congratulate
and celebrate the new member of the Tiger Club. If a student acts
in a way that is inconsistent with Tiger Club behavior it could
result in the removal of his/her Tiger Club -Self Manager badge
and status. The student can be renominated by the teacher when he/she
consistently displays self-manager behavior again.
