Arrival/Departure
Students should not arrive on school grounds before 8:30am. Students should depart immediately after school unless they are involved in a school sponsored event. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines. There is no supervision should students arrive early or stay late. Students are not allowed to play on the equipment, field, or blacktop before school.
ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance for all grades, preschool through sixth, is essential for academic progress. Attendance will be taken daily and records kept in the office. When a child must be home, please call in the morning to let the school know. The office staff will make a safety check each morning if a student is absent. A written excuse is required on the child's first day back. It is a state requirement to receive a written excuse or the absence is considered unexcused.
Tardiness: An important skill children should learn during their elementary education is punctuality. School begins each day at 8:40. It is each child's responsibility with the help of his/her parent to be at school on time. Late arriving students create a disruption in the classroom. Rooms are open at 8:35 and students are to report directly to their classrooms.
Early dismissal: If an emergency arises when it is necessary to take your child out of school during the day, please come to the school office. Students will be released to authorized individuals ONLY. If at all possible, avoid the 3:00 - 3:15 P.M. time block.
Withdrawing students: If you are planning to move, please notify the school as soon as possible indicating:
- The last day of attendance.
- Approximate location to which you are moving.
- If known, the new school your child will attend.
VISITING SCHOOL
For students' safety and to abide by the teachers' contract, all visitors arerequired to sign in at the office and obtain a district visitor/volunteer badge before entering any classroom area.
If you need to discuss something with your child's teacher, please call to make an appointment before or after school. Drop-in conferences often interrupt student learning activities, and disrupt valuable instructional time.
NEWSLETTER
The Camelot Drawbridge is published every other week and will go home in the Thursday folder with your child.
REPORT CARD - CONFERENCES
There are two academic reporting periods at Camelot Elementary during the school year. These dates are February 9th, and June 13. Parent/student/teacher conferences will be held October 30 & 31 and March 13 & 14.
TEXTBOOKS & SUPPLIES
Textbooks are furnished free of charge to all pupils by the District. However, pupils will be charged for lost or damaged books. Students are asked to furnish (and keep available at school) certain supplies appropriate to their grade level. A list of these supplies will be sent home on the last day of school with your child's report card or can be obtained from the school office or the Community Resource Center at the SeaTac Mall.
SNOW DAY
Listen to local radio and television stations for a list of school closures. If snow begins after the students have left for school, listen to these stations for early dismissal information. Phone lines are difficult to use during this period...the radio / television media is most reliable.
LOST & FOUND
All items found by students are to be turned into the office or taken directly to the school's Lost and Found container. Students may check for lost articles after obtaining permission from their teacher. Parents are encouraged to check for lost items after checking in with office personnel.
