Welcome to Camelot Elementary, a National Blue Ribbon School
Camelot is a school designed to resemble a castle with the intrigue of our knights in armor and the mystery of the sword in the stone. It is nestled in a quiet forest neighborhood in the Federal Way public school system. We are a small school of about 300 students
“You must reach a child to teach a child” has been at the heart of instruction at Camelot. We believe that for all students to learn we must build relationships with them and provide instruction that meets their academic needs as well as learning styles. Our focus is on the whole child, not just curriculum. It is on life skills such as responsibility, respect, and integrity. We call these “ thinking skills ” and “ intelligent behaviors ”. We believe that with these skills students are prepared to be independent thinkers and lifelong learners who understand academic standards and set goals to meet them.
Each year our school has a new theme. This year our theme is leaf. “We can’t see the leaf for the lushness of the tree.” In looking at the overall beauty that leaves create, it’s easy to think that each leaf is the same as all the others. But like snowflakes, each has its own characteristics that make it unique. Children are like leaves, in that each is different from others in looks, habits, learning styles, and motivation. Yet these interesting little differences give each child character and beauty and worth.
We at Camelot believe that the unique characteristics and abilities of each of our students together create the beauty and success of Camelot.
