Q. Can community members bring their
cars in for repairs?
A. Yes, both students and community members
can have their cars repaired in the high school shop. Only students enrolled
in the program may do the work however.
Q. What type of repairs can the high
school shop students do?
A. The students under the supervision
of the instructor can perform complete service procedures, brake repair, tune-up,
wheel alignments, suspension repair, electrical, engine and transmission,
clutches, and diagnostics.
Q.
Does the school shop supply the needed parts and supplies to repair my
car?
A. No, the owner of the vehicle must supply
all parts to complete repairs.
Q. Where can I get
the parts to repair my vehicle and how do I know which ones to buy?
A. There are many quality auto parts retailers
located in Federal Way that can assist you in buying the correct parts for
your car. You need to know the make, model, year, and engine size. The instructor
will determine for you the parts needed for the particular repair job your
vehicle needs. There may be a small charge upon completion of the repair job
for shop supplies or incidental materials.
Q. Is the work guaranteed?
A. The work is closely monitored by the
instructor and done according to proper procedure. Should there be a need
to re-do a repair job the vehicle owner would need to supply the parts required
to do the job again.
Q.
Will the repairs on my car be done in one day?
A. Usually, it depends on the repairs
being done. Most service work can be done in one day.
Q.. Will my car be
safe if I leave it overnight?
A. Yes. If the car is in the shop it is
locked and protected by a security system and video surveillance. It is not
recommended to leave it outside in the parking lot as cars have become vandalized.
