Cambridge Preparatory Academy Entrance Requirements
Students must meet the following criteria for acceptance into the Cambridge
Preparatory Academy at Federal Way High School at the 9th grade level:
Completed first year high school Algebra (Algebra 1-2)
Scored 400 or above on the most recent WASL or other standardized test score
at or above grade level
3.0 GPA
Students must meet the following coursework requirements in addition to WASL
and GPA requirements for acceptance into the program at the 10th grade level:
Completed Geometry and Advanced Algebra (Algebra 3-4)
Completed first year high school Biology
Completed the equivalent of 1 ½ years of Spanish or French
Students may be allowed to enroll in individual Cambridge classes at grades
11 and 12 depending on their previous coursework.
The Process:
- Complete the two-page application form and make sure that
the student and parent/guardian both sign and date the form.
- Complete Essay- In a multiple paragraph essay, no longer than
2 pages, write out (in your handwriting) an answer to the
following question:
What will you do with your one precious life?
- Make a copy of the student’s first semester (or most recent)
report card.
- Give a copy of the teacher recommendation form to TWO of
the student’s current teachers (Math, Science or Language Arts
teachers).
- Failure to complete Summer Assignments will result in
removal from the CIE Programme. (www.fwps.org/fwhs)
- Please indicate if you prefer the French Language tract
____, Spanish Language tract ____ or it doesn’t
matter ____. (We will do our best to match
preferences—numbers will dictate.)
- Mail or deliver the application form, essay, copy of the report card, and
School Choice Form (when applicable) to Mr. Mosebach.
