Item 4: Review SLT charter:
The charter was reviewed and adjustments were made on:
The time and frequency of the meetings—the meetings will begin at 3:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm. The meetings will follow the grading periods in December, February, April and if needed, May.
Minutes—the wording was changed to: The minutes will be recorded and distributed to the school community and members of the SLT by the Principal’s secretary.
Decision Making Committees: The names will be updated to reflect the 2009-10 school year.
Jordanne asked the team to email her names of students who would be willing to serve on the team. Names were brought up for the 9th and 10th representatives and still need suggestions for the 11th grade and ASB rep.
Item 5: Review school learning plan:
Lisa
talked about the school improvement plan (SIP) and informed the team that the
federal government is requiring every school to have one. FWHS is not meeting AYP in seven different
areas. The principals are meeting with the school board in 2 weeks, where the
SIP will be presented. The board will
be asking the principals three questions regarding the SIP and AYP:
1. How are you/your school
meeting the needs of each student in this cell area?
2. How are you measuring success?
3. What supports will you/your school need to accomplish this?
This year there is a new template which reflects the 9 characteristics of effective schools. Lisa has been working of the plan and it is still in draft form.
Lisa went over the SIP, mainly focusing on the first page which shows our goals, demographics, student achievement, population and special programs. Lisa also spoke about the gaps in scores and what FWHS has implemented already. Jordanne addressed the changes the math department has made this year and the conversations that have been taking place between the middle schools and high schools.
Item 6: Reports
Bring Your Parent/Guardian to School Day: Over 100 parents/guardians attended BYPTSD on October 2nd, which was also the day of the Homecoming assembly. Parents and guardians enjoyed the assembly and stayed all day. The demographics of the parents/guardians attending matched those of our students.
Student Led Conferences: SLC’s were the evening of October 28th, October 29th and 30th. They are a district requirement. Our teachers vote on the format of SLC’s and feel that our current set up benefits students and parents the best. Debbie Estes is compiling a list of our no show students. Novella asked how parents like the format of SLC’s. The teachers in attendance felt like parents like when teachers talk about attendance and grades and want to know where the student is at and where they are going.
F List: Copies were not available and it was 4:32 pm…this item will be tabled until the next meeting.
