We are excited about our new TECHNOLOGY learning tools!
All of these computer activities are password protected or require an enrolment key so that our students are safe.
No one can see anything we write or create within the Moodle environment unless they are invited and the Twitter account is locked so that the public may not view our messages.
TWITTER
Mrs. Wolff will send texts (tweets) to your cell phone such as: Baseball practice is canceled today! or Don't forget the science project is due tomorrow!
You must have a twitter account of your own to receive these free phone updates. Ask your student or email Mrs. Wolff for more information.
MOODLE
Mrs. Wolff's class has been working in a computer environment called a Moodle.
Moodle is an open source (free) interactive space in which students can participate in educational activities such as Forums and Wikis.
FORUM
A forum is a place for students to talk about a topic.
Some of the topics we discussed have been: Who is your favorite person from ancient Greek and Roman history? and
What was the best book you ever read and why?
WIKI
A wiki is a web page document that is created collaboratively. All students contribute to the final product. For our first wiki, students started by researching what a company has done to reduce its impact on our environment. After answering questions and creating their own web page, they can edit and add to other students' pages. Youtube has a great video title, "PB Wiki-What is a Wiki?" that may help to explain more.
EMAIL
Your students now have their own EMAIL address which was necessary for them to participate in our forum and wiki.
The ONLY person they can send and receive emails with is Mrs. Wolff.
