Students will be in the locker room when the bell to begin class
rings and in roll call positions, fully clothed in an acceptable uniform
and ready to participate, two minutes later.
It is the responsibility of the student to clear all health problems
that might limit his/her participation with the teacher before class
begins.
On rare occasions, a student may find it necessary to be excused
from P.E. because of a medical reason. Students in this situation
will bring with them to class a note from a parent or guardian explaining
the nature of the problem and detailing which of the class activities
the student will need to avoid that day. These parent notes are good
for only one day at a time, no more than three will be accepted for
any one reason and they should be submitted to the teacher before
class begins.
Students are allowed 3 notes per semester. Students who bring in
more than 3 notes will be required to make up the work missed or receive
a zero for each day.
Absences from class that extend beyond three days, or permanent excuses
from P.E. will require a note from a physician in order for them to
be excused.
Students who are excused from PE will be provided a "study hall"
until they are able to return to activity.
Upon returning to class after an absence, students will bring with
them an "admit slip" from the attendance office.

Aerobic Workouts
Students at Kilo will be involved in a program that is designed
to promote aerobic fitness. A large part of this program will include
distance runs that will progress to, but not be limited to, one
mile. These runs are not optional and are to be considered part
of our normal curriculum. Mondays are considered "Program Aerobic
Days". All classes will participate in a large group, extended aerobic
activity.
P.E. Make-ups
The first three excused absences in each six-week grading period
will be considered "freebies". These absences will not need to be
made-up and they will not have any negative impact on the student's
grade. "Freebies" do not carry over into the next grading period.
Any absences exceeding three in a particular grading period, and
ALL UNEXCUSED ABSENCES must be made-up in order for the student
to receive credit for that day. P.E. make-ups will be arranged by
each individual teacher. Possible times for make-ups could include
before school, after school, or during advisory period. Students
may do make-ups prior to an anticipated absence.
Safety Factors
"Character is what you do when you think no one else is watching."
Your safety and that of your classmates is the issue of greatest
importance to those in charge. Horseplay of any kind will not be
tolerated. Know the safety rules and procedures for each of our
activities and follow them. Look out for each other's well being.
Report any accidents to the teacher immediately. Do not administer
first-aid yourself - get immediate help from the teacher. No gum,
food, or drinks are allowed in the gym at any time. No running or
throwing objects in the locker rooms.
Baskets and Locks
Baskets and locks are furnished free of charge to each student.
Therefore, students should not bring their own locks for use in
the locker room. Be sure all valuables are locked in your locker
during class time. If a lock is lost, the student must pay for its
replacement before a new one can be issued. Do not share the combination
to your lock with anyone.
Lost and Found
Any articles lost should be reported to the teacher immediately.
Turn in any found articles to the teacher immediately.
Classroom Behavior "In this class, the kind of athlete
you are is not as important as the kind of person you are."
Students here are expected to observe a reasonable code of conduct,
which will involve elements of respect and fair play. Each person
in this class will be treated with respect no matter what his/her
abilities may be. We do not ridicule one another. Our activities
are for fun and for learning - no arguments, no fights. Each person
will be given an equal opportunity to participate. No one will commit
any act, which is intended to injure another. The use of profanity,
or any other form of disrespect, will not be tolerated. Listen to
instructions given by the teacher and P.E. aides and follow directions.
You are expected to give your best at all times during class activities.
Good attitudes and hard work are the roads to success in this class.
Any student who, at any time, threatens or attempts to intimidate
a student aide will be dealt with as if that threat had been made
toward the teacher. Students will leave the gym only when given
permission to do so. Cheating is considered poor sportsmanship and
is not responsible behavior for the classroom. It will not be tolerated.
At times, a substitute may be present in the classroom. All expectations
for you will remain the same. Be helpful and courteous, as this
person is a guest in our classroom.
Miscellaneous
Street shoes are not to be worn on the gym floor. Although the
door may be open, the locker room is off limits during class time
unless you are given specific permission to be there. Students who
elect to bring their own deodorants should bring only the stick
or roll-on type. No aerosol cans please. Any items not needed for
P.E. (combs, jewelry, cosmetics) are to be left in the locker room.
School property and that of other people should not be defaced,
written on, or destroyed. The class will be dismissed by the instructor
or his/her aide. The bell is simply a reminder.
