- IX. Lunch Program
Lunch
Program
Hot lunches and salads are served daily. Menus are sent home with
the students each month. A count of lunches is taken each morning
in the students classroom during attendance, if your child is going
to be late, placing an order by phone to the office at 253 945-2800
prior to 9:25 a.m. would be helpful.
Lunch Tickets
Lunch tickets may be purchased by check, cash or charge card, anytime
during the school year at a cost of $40.00 for 20 lunches ($2.00 per
lunch). Please make your checks payable to Federal Way School District.
If you are paying by charge card you will need to call Nutrition Services
at 253 945-5555, and they will process the payment.
Free And Reduced Lunches
Under provisions of the National School Lunch Act, free and reduced
price lunches are available to children of families who qualify. In
certain cases, foster children are eligible for these benefits. Free
and Reduced Lunch Application forms are sent home the first day of
school and are also included in the “New Student Enrollment Packet”.
Occasionally, a change in family income or size during the school
year may qualify youngsters who were earlier not eligible. Should
this be your case, please contact the school office at 253 945-2800
and request a new form. We encourage all families who might qualify
to submit the application. The district does qualify for extra funds
according to identified numbers of families qualifying for free or
reduced lunches. It is each student’s responsibility to have a lunch
from home, a valid lunch ticket or money for lunch. Anyone who does
not, will be offered a piece of fruit (if available) and/or peanut
butter on bread. Students are encouraged to eat all of their own lunches.
Trading of food items is discouraged.
