in the classroom 2) Pull out to Basic Skills room 3) Individual monitoring
in the classroom Basis Skills also provides enrichment activities
for small groups of students periodically during the school year.

The Resource Room provides additional assistance to students who are
experiencing academic, social or emotional difficulties. Ongoing evaluation
is made on these students. The goal is to enable them to work in the
regular classroom setting as much as possible. Eligibility criteria
for students served in the Resource Room is established by the state.
Counselor
Lake Dolloff is served by a school counselor, who works primarily
with students on an individual,, group or classroom basis. The counselor
also works with parents to help them better understand the school
environment, the way their children function, and provides referrals
to parents who request further support.
Speech Language Pathologist
Students identified with difficulties in the areas of speech, language,
voice, hearing and/or fluency that interferes with their educational
performance, are referred to a qualified Speech Language Pathologist.
The student may receive assessments, consultation and/or remediation
for these identified needs with parental permission.
School Psychologist
School psychologists are assigned to all elementary schools within
the district. They work cooperatively with the elementary school counselor
to aid teachers and parents in understanding their children’s learning
and social problems.
Safety
Measures
- Safety
is a key concern and gets regular attention. The building and
grounds are inspected and monitored consistently for repair needs
and safe conditions. Your student’s day will follow a routine,
we ask for a written note if you request a schedule change (e.g.,
riding a different bus, being picked up by someone else, walking
home/riding a bus when not routine). This note will need to be
dated and signed by the parent or guardian.
- We
require all visitors (parents and community) come to the office
when visiting or volunteering at school. This is a safety measure
and also one that allows for a less interrupted instructional
schedule. We care about who you care about!
- Safety
drills are done during the year to practice for emergencies such
as fire, earthquake, intrusion and bus exit. These drills are
taken seriously and done on a routine basis.
- There
is not before and after school supervision on the school grounds.
We ask that you have your children gauge the time so that arrival
is no more than 5 minutes before the bell and that you help them
learn that “straight home” at dismissal is best for safety as
well.
- Student
insurance is available to parents through the school. Participation
in this insurance is strictly voluntary and your own insurance
policy should be reviewed prior to your final decision regarding
the purchase of school insurance. Please be aware that the district
does not have accident insurance to cover parents’ medical bills
if your child is injured.
- Individual
student pictures are taken each fall with a private photographer
for student records. As a service to parents, these pictures may
be purchased on a prepaid basis. Classroom group pictures are
taken in the spring and may also be purchased on a prepaid basis.
