Tom McGrath Visits Lake Grove
Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Tom McGrath, the director of the popular kids' animated movies Madagascar and Madagascar 2, made a visit to Lake Grove to talk to students in Ms. Petrillo, Mr. Willimason, and Mr. Chan's class. Mr. McGrath gave a brief presentation on how animated movies are made, with pictures of the entire process from real-life photographs of Africa to the finished product of a computer-made cartoon. Students were also excited to hear that Mr. McGrath is the voice of Skipper, leader of the small group of funny penguins from the movie. Mr. McGrath also did his best to inspire and encourage the students to keep working hard in school, and if they have a passion for something (like drawing or writing) to persue it as a career.

As a small gift, students from all three classes also received special passes to a Madagascar 2 advance screening before the official opening .
