GO2–Grades Online

Go2 is Here – Check Your Student’s Grades Online

Go2 is here, and it gives Federal Way Public Schools’ secondary students and their parents a powerful tool for keeping track of their academic progress. This updated version of Grades Online (GO) incorporates the power standards that are the foundation of the district‟s Standards-Based Education (SBE) system. Parents and students can check to see which power standards the student has met, as well the results of recent assessments, and homework assignments — all in real time. As soon as the grade book is updated, parents will see the changes. This is just the first phase of Go2. In February, more features will be added based on the input we receive from teachers, parents and students. Next fall, there will be even more to look forward to, including tools and links to resources. At Lakota Middle School we recognize the powerful impact of parents being actively involved in their child’s education. Parents who’ve used the grades online (GO) system in the past already know the value of being able to check in on their child’s academic progress whenever they like. We encourage parents to use Go2 early and often, and to use that information as a starting point for conversations with their child and his or her teachers.

What do the grades mean?

Go to http://www.fwps.org/cur/sbe/ for specifics or for a an overview see below.

What do grades mean for credit-bearing (traditional letter grades) classes and non credit-bearing classes:

  • “A” or “EX” means the student currently has demonstrated mastery on a superior number of standards required to earn credit in the course.

  • “B” or “ME” means the student currently has demonstrated mastery on a significant number of standards required to earn credit in the course.

  • “C” or “AP” means the student currently has met standard on a minimum number of power standards that are required for the course. The student will receive credit for the course.

  • “I” or “BE” means the student currently has met standard on a minimal number of the Power Standards assessed, (see HSCBG Chart) but not enough to earn credit. The student is at risk of not being successful in this course. (Note: If “BE” is designated at the end of the course, the next definition applies).

  • “F” or “BE” means the student currently has met fewer than the minimal number of the Power Standards that are required to earn credit for the course (see HSCBG Chart). The student will not receive credit for the course. The student is at significant risk of not successfully completing the next course in sequence or may not be promoted to the next course.

  • “IP”, In Progress, will be used when a student meets a minimal number of the assessed standards (see HSCBG Chart), but has not met enough standards to calculate a grade.

  • “N/A”, is used when there is not enough evidence in a respective class for a grade to be calculated.

  • Pass/Fail Classes – A student must meet a minimal number of the power standards (see HSCBG Chart) in order to earn a “Pass” in the course.

Note: ***Letter Grades begin to calculate when at least three power standards have been assessed in a credit-bearing course.
