PREAMBLE

Our School Leadership Team is focused on the development and implementation of Meredith Hill's Learning Plan. Using the learning plan as a vehicle, our purpose is to benefit the growth and learning of all students by:

  • Working collaboratively,
  • Keeping focused on our vision,
  • Thoughtfully making core impact decisions.

NORMS OF BEHAVIOR

To accomplish Our Purpose, All Team Members Need:

  • Opportunities to be heard
  • Opportunities to think out loud and to change our minds
  • Consideration for our busy schedules
  • To have our contributions accurately represented by others.

To Meet These Needs We Will:

  • Allow others the opportunity to speak
  • Deal with issues, not personalities
  • Let others know when we are thinking out loud or changing our minds
  • Treat members with respect
  • Consider members' schedules when planning meetings
  • Accurately represent the discussion and the contributions of others
  • Listen! (Paraphrase, probe, pause)
  • Presume the positive intent of all members
  • Put our ideas on the table
  • Attend to creature comforts of the group
  • Keep our meetings purposeful.

VISITORS

Visitors who wish to address the team should arrange with the school principal at least one day in advance of the meeting. Visitors who wish to comment on the proceedings of the team may do so at the discretion of the facilitator.

DECISION MAKING

It is our intention to make decision by simple consensus. If the facilitator determines that a simple consensus is not possible, she/he may call for a decision by a simple majority vote. Site team members will attempt to consider input from people affected by their decisions prior to the finalization of decisions. The relationship between the staff and the leadership team will be a fluid one. Many decisions which have a low impact on the school can be made by the leadership team. However, decisions which have a high impact on the staff will be brought before the staff before being finalized by the leadership team.

SELF-EVALUATION

Criteria for site team evaluation shall be distributed to all team members in May. Time during one spring meeting will be devoted to team evaluation of the quality of the decisions made by the team over the course of the year.

AMENDMENTS TO THIS CHARTER

This charter shall be reviewed annually by the site team. The charter may be amended by a majority vote of the site team. Amendments to the charter may be suggested by any Meredith Hill parent or member of the Meredith Hill Staff. Amendments must be sponsored by a site team member to be considered.
