Welcome to Mirror Lake

Dear Families,

Hello and welcome to Mirror Lake Elementary. Our school is an amazing place! We are fortunate to have a wonderful staff that is committed to providing your child with a great education. In 2011, we were honored by Washington State for our academic achievement and we work hard to meet the individual needs of each student who walks through our doors. Our school motto is “Be Safe; Be Caring; Be Your Best.” We celebrate students who show these qualities in many ways including our Terrific Kid Assemblies, our Good Choice Slips, and our Monday morning awards.

The staff members are readers who enjoy sharing their love of reading with others! We promote life long learning and teach students how to be independent learners who are curious about their world.

Parents often ask me, “what can I do to help my child be successful?” Here are 4 tips…
1.   SLEEP – Your child’s brain needs between 9-11 hours of sleep per night.
2.  LIMIT SCREEN TIME – Limiting computers, TV and video games will have a positive impact on your child’s development
3.  HEALTHY FOOD and EXERCISE – It helps your child learn when they eat whole foods and drink plenty of water.
4.  READ – Get into a fun routine of reading with your child each day.

I encourage you to get involved in our school. Come to a special event, volunteer to be a mentor, read with a child, or help an individual teacher. Thank you for supporting Mirror Lake and all of our children!

Sincerely,

Maggie O’Sullivan, Principal
