What is Special About Our School?
Mirror Lake Elementary opens its doors each year to 400 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are a learning community dedicated to bringing staff, students, and parents together in a safe and welcoming environment. The school strives to prepare students to become productive members of both the local and world communities. We share a common mission with our district: Every Child, A Reader. Reading and Math are a primary focus. All students participate in daily activities that help them become strong readers, problem solvers and writers.
Mirror Lake is privileged to have a rich partnership with area community members, parents, and businesses, as nearly 60 volunteers tutor students each week. Last year over 100 students received additional reading support thanks to our valuable volunteers. Please contact us if you would like to join our volunteer team. We have been fortunate to receive grants to help support student achievement.
Our teachers and our master schedule allow a collaborative/teaming approach to support math and reading instruction. Each afternoon on a six-day rotation, grade-level teams meet with the school’s reading and math specialists and the principal to discuss student achievement and identify strategies and approaches to support all students. This collaborative model also allows our reading and math specialists to co-teach concepts and strategies to students within the classroom setting.
Our students pride themselves on working hard and displaying respectful, responsible, and cooperative behaviors in and out of the classroom. We recognize positive citizenship through programs such as our monthly “Terrific Kids Assembly” and weekly drawings for “Good Choice Awards."No Child Left Behind Report Card
The No Child Left Behind Act requires all schools and school districts in the United States to prepare annual reports for parents and the public detailing their academic achievement.
