Guide to Recess Safety

General - Playground supervisors are available at all times to help you with any questions or situation.

  1. Always cooperate with the directions of the supervisors respectfully.
  2. Stay within boundaries of playground. Always be within sight of supervisors.
  3. Play safely, keep all rocks, sticks, dirt, bark, snowballs on ground.
  4. Stop play immediately when bell/whistle blows.
  5. Do not attempt to move anyone who may be injured-contact a supervisor immediately.
  6. All games are open / basketball-limited to 5 persons per team
  7. Check in with supervisor before going to and returning from restroom.
  8. Do not kick balls in play shed.
  9. Railings may not be used for swinging or twirling.
  10. Consideration of others, honestly and fair play is expected at all times.
  11. On rainy days hallways around the courtyard will be open for jump ropes, hoola hoops etc.

1st person in line is judge

3 wins in any game - person is out

Covered Playshed

  1. Wallball only - except rainy days
  2. No sitting/standing in front of gym doors.
  3. No kicking of balls allowed.

During rainy day recess only organized games will be held undercover. No balls.

Play Fighting - Play fighting is not allowed.

Fighting - There is ZERO tolerance on fighting, whether physical or verbal. All fights will be refereed to principal.

Eating on the playground

  1. All students are expected to finish eating (including chewing ) in the lunchroom.
  2. Leftovers are expected to go back to the classroom in the class basket/lunch box.
  3. No running/ playing while eating popcorn.

End of recess- lining up

  1. Students are expected to be in line at the second bell.
  2. Students who continue to play after the bell/whistle shall lose recess time.
  3. Students who are consistently late lining up shall be referred to the principal.

Inappropriate Language - Swearing, name calling, derogatory remarks, racial slurs, ridiculing will not be tolerated.

Improper use of equipment/conduct: - unsafe use of play equipment and/or inappropriate behavior will result in:

  1. Student warned - explain rule/issue.
  2. Student removed from equipment/area.
  3. Time-out/ restricted from use for __ days.
  4. Referred to principal.

* Recurrent events will be referred to the principal.
