Mrs. Hentschell
I would like to welcome your child to our Panther Lake Health and Fitness
program. I have high expectations for our students here at Panther Lake.
I expect every child to participate in P.E. with their best attitude and
effort. Your child will have P.E. twice a week with me with the exception
of half-day kindergarten.
My primary focus of the Panther Lake Health and Fitness program is to
meet the needs of your child. The main emphasis of the program consists
of physical fitness and skill development to enhance the quality of health
throughout your child's future years.

HEALTH AND FITNESS ASSESSMENTS
Students will be assessed based on how they meet grade level expectations
for each Health and Fitness Essential Learning Requirement. The following
grading rubric will be used:
E Exceeding Standards
M Meeting Standards
A Approaching Standards
B Below Standards
The student will set personal goals on a variety of activities. When
the student improves with each activity his/her P.E. grade will reflect
improvement.
TARDINESS AND ATTENDANCE
It is very important for your child to attend school. Attendance in P.E.
is also important. Your child needs to be a participant in our Panther
Lake Health and Fitness program. Attendance and participation will be
graded. Absenteeism could lower your child's P. E. grade.
He/she needs to wear the proper clothing for P.E. on his/her day. The
recommended clothing on P.E. days are:
1. tennis shoes, jogging shoes
2. gym shorts, sweats, or comfortable pants (not baggy or too tight).
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO WEAR THE APPROPRIATE CLOTHING ON YOUR CHILD'S
P.E. DAY.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT/HOMEWORK
It is very critical for the parent to be part of your child's Health
and Fitness education. I highly recommend all parents exercise with their
children. Some examples are:
- 1. Walk as a family twice a week for 20 minutes.
- 2. Ride bicycles together.
- 3. Jump rope as a family.
- 4. Jog a few minutes per day.
- 5. Eat a healthy breakfast always.
- 6. Any event that becomes a lifestyle-enhancing activity.
Parents are welcome to participate in their child's P.E. program.
DISCIPLINE
I expect your child to follow these guidelines:
- 1. Follow directions
- 2. Demonstrate good sportsmanship
- 3. Always participate
- 4. Do your best
- 5. Be considerate of others
- 6. Wear the right P. E. clothing
I really expect your child to respect others and follow the P.E. guidelines.
If your child cannot follow the guidelines, I will contact the parent.
