Dear Sunnycrest,

Twenty-seven years ago I started my journey in the field of education. My first years of teaching were in rural Montana. The students that I taught were from farms and were children of generations of people that lived in the area.  The school system reflected the values of a traditional small town. My students were very limited in the knowledge of other value systems.  Their knowledge of the world was limited to a map or globe and maybe a trip to North Dakota.  Most of the children wanted to farm and very few of the high school went on to higher education.

The world today has many challenges and opportunities for children.  Students are asked to set goals, think outside of the box, and achieve using a variety of strategies. Our classrooms represent “the world.”

Sunnycrest represents this world.  We celebrate the languages spoken, the traditions and values of our students.  This blending of the “world” supports the phrase – "All Means All." The Sunnycrest staff has made a commitment that ALL children will receive the very best instruction. Our Top priorities are the academic achievement of every student and that all students will receive the necessary skills to be successful, feel safe and enjoy being at Sunnycrest. Sunnycrest has been recognized as a noteworthy school in the state of Washington.

In closing, Sunnycrest is a great place to learn, teach and be principal.

Keeping Kids First.
