The Federal Way Public Schools Board of Directors announced the appointment of Laura Davis-Brown as principal of the Technology Access Foundation Academy (TAF Academy), effective July 1, 2008.

Ms. Davis-Brown has served as principal at Thomas Tyler Minor Elementary since August 2006, and was the assistant principal at the New School at South Shore during the 2005-06 school year.

“We are excited to have someone with Laura’s experience in creating this unique learning environment for our students,” said Federal Way Public Schools Superintendent Tom Murphy.

Ms. Davis-Brown has been serving students in various capacities throughout her 19 years with the Seattle Public School District. Her efforts have been dedicated to supporting academic success for all. "Being the first principal of TAF Academy at Federal Way Public Schools is an honor," said the incoming TAF Academy Principal. "Outside of family, there is nothing more important to me than ensuring the academic success of all of the students entrusted to the school. It is equally important to me to ensure that the work of the school district and TAF Academy is seen as a successful partnership in support of students and families."

Laura Davis-Brown was born and raised in Seattle’s Central District. She attended Garfield High School and went on to obtain her undergraduate degree in Education and Human Services from Evergreen State College. She also has a Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling and an additional degree in School Administration, both from City University.

Ms. Davis-Brown has served students in various capacities throughout her 19 years with the Seattle Public School District. As a Family Support Worker, Lead Worker, CHILD Team Specialist and in other roles, her efforts have always been dedicated to supporting success for all students and families. She has served as the assistant principal at The New School at South Shore during the 2005-06 school year, and oversaw the consolidation of Martin Luther King and Thomas Tyler Minor Elementary Schools starting in 2006. She served as Principal at TT Minor Elementary through the 2007-2008 school year prior to joining TAF Academy.
