Student Work
2009-10 Community Project
What does it mean to be a 21st century learning Community? Each grade explored this question from a different perspective:
6th Grade: A Collaborative Lens
6th grade students worked together in small groups to produce team building activities or exercises and, subsequently, lead groups through them.
7th Grade: An Innovative Lens
7th grade students worked together in small groups to generate innovative products that they thought would improve the TAF Academy community. Each group wrote a paper that defined the problem, identified criteria on a successful solution, and researched others that have attempted to solve a similar solution. Groups then developed and tested a prototype for solution.
8th Grade: A Leadership Lens
8th grade students created a 1 -2 minute video diary "confessional" about what they would like to do as a leader this year at TAFA. This confessional was based on work and research around characteristics of a good leader.
9th Grade: A Career Awareness Lens
9th grade students worked together to produce a visual representation (vision board) of the challenges and successes of finding one's career passion.
10th Grade: A College Readiness Lens
10th grade students wrote, directed and acted in dramatic performances around the meaning of college readiness and the resources needed to fulfill the schools mission of being fully prepared to be admitted to and succeed in college.
