TAF Academy Model

An Overview

Federal way Public Schools is pleased to partner with the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) to launch the first TAF Academy in September 2008.

TAF Academy is a 6th - 12th grade school model with a mission to prepare every student for college and for life through a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) focused curriculum.  The goals of the TAF Academy model are as follows:

  1. To prepare every student for college and for life through a project-based curriculum focused on college readiness, STEM and civic engagement, including seamless and artful integration of technology too

  2. To provide an exceptional public education option for underserved communities of color that eliminates disparity in academic achievement and allows all students to graduate college-ready.

  3. To build a critical mass of underrepresented minorities and women to become high-impact leaders in STEM fields and across industries to catalyze positive community and global change.

  4. To become a sustainable, replicable model that demonstrates public-private partnerships are an effective tool to support academic achievement of all students.

The TAF Academy model was created by the Technology Access Foundation with the vision of providing a unique, individualized, and holistic educational experience for all TAF Academy students.

Why is TAF Academy Different?

TAF Academy is a holistic approach to student learning.  Our primary focus is to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to bring about better personal, community and global conditions for the 21st century.
