SEPTEMBER DEADLINES

NEWNEW YORK UNIVERSITY: For September 2008, we will award merit and need-based scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $15,000 annually to selected students who are offered admission to one of the teacher education curricula that lead to certification at the early childhood, or secondary level. OCTOBER DEADLINES

WENDY'S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP: Are you Heisman worthy? Prove it at http://www.wendysheisman.com/ they're scouting the nation for THE BEST student athletes. There are 33 eligible sports. Complete the online application now. The first 36,000 students that complete an application will win a Wendy's Gift Card in amounts ranging from $5 to $50 (gift cards will be mailed out in November)!

2008 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS : (GREAT OPPORTUNITY.) All High School Students are eligible. If you have made difference, we want to hear about it! This award is to recognize student for their volunteer service in their communities. Applications are available at www.principals.org/prudential . Deadline: October 31, 2008

NEWWASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS: Danforth Scholars may receive full- or partial tuition scholarship. The scholarship is renewed each year for the duration of the degree program, provide the student maintains academic progress and upholds the high standards of character required of those in the program. NOVEMBER DEADLINES

NEWVFW VOICE OF DEMOCRACY: audio essay contest for high school students in grades

9-12. You can win up to $1,000-$30,000. Application available in the Career Center or on-line at http://www.vfw.org/index.cfm?fa=cmty.leveld&did=150 . Deadline: November 1, 2008.

NEWBETTER BUSINESS BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 scholarship award.

Eligibility: Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

•  Attends an accredited high school in Western Washington or Oregon

•  A member of the senior or junior class who will be attending college after graduation

•  Resides in Western Washington or Oregon

•  Has good academic standing and a GPA of 2.5 or higher

DECEMBER DEADLINES

NEW AIRFORCE ROTC SCHOLARSHIP: Seniors can now apply for the AFROTC scholarships at www.afrotc.com . Deadline: December 1, 2008. Last date to take ACT or SAT1 to be considered and processed for the High School Scholarship Program is December 31, 2008.

JANUARY DEADLINES

NEWGATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS: Receive funding throughout your academic career-undergraduate through doctoral degrees – and have the opportunity to graduate debt-free (graduate degrees in designated fields). Criteria: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; are a citizen, national or leagal permanent resident of the United States; have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) or have earned GED. Application can be found at: www.gmsp.org or you can pick a copy up in the Career Center. All paper applications must be postmarked by December 31, 2008. All online applications must be submitted by January 11, 2009, 11:59 pm EST.

HUSKY PROMISE: The Husky Promise covers tuition and fees for academically qualified students who are eligible for a federal Pell Grant or Washington State Need Grant. A student's tuition will be covered first by federal and state grants. The university will then make up any difference with institutional grants or scholarship. Students' eligible for the Husky Promise must:

•  Be admitted to any of the UW's three campuses;

•  Enroll full-time at the UW (incoming freshmen, transfer students and current UW students are all eligible for the Husky Promise);

•  Be a Washington state resident;

•  Meet all eligibility criteria for the Pell Grant or State Need Grant Programs;

•  Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the UW's priority filing date of February 28 for the following academic year; Be pursuing a first bachelor's degree;

•  Maintain satisfactory academic progress while at the UW.

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND: You must be of Hispanic Heritage and have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Applications available on-line at http://www.hsf.net

VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP : This scholarship is awarded four times per year to a high school senior who plans on attending a Vocational-Technical institution. $500 awards. WRITERS OF THE FUTURE : Applicants must not have professionally published more than three short stories, one novelette or a novel and must submit an original English work of prose. 3 awards are given quarterly with a grand prize awarded annually. Award amounts vary from $500 - $4,000. To enter you will need to go to web site www.writersofthefuture.com Deadlines are December 31 st , May 31 st , June 30 th and September 30 th .

National High School Oratorical Contest : Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation at any level of the Oratorical Contest.
