Responsible, intelligent,
and talented are three characteristics that come to mind when I think
of _______ as a leader, scholar and musician. For the past three and
a half years, I have worked with________ in the capacity as his English
teacher in the ninth grade and as Habitat Advisor. In these capacities,
_______ proves to be driven to lead students to serve their community
in his role as President of Todd Beamer High School's Habitat for Humanity
Chapter, to challenge himself to think critically in his rigorous course
work, and to create and compose captivating music. So, I am honored as
a teacher and advisor of the Habitat for Humanity Chapter to work with
such a distinguished young person.
In the fall of 2002, when _______ was in the
ninth grade at Illahee Junior High School, he came to me with an idea
for his ninth grade project to pioneer the efforts towards establishing
a Habitat for Humanity Chapter at Todd Beamer High School, which was
opening the following fall of 2003. His vision three and half years ago
is thriving today at Todd Beamer High School. For the past two and half
years, _______ has served as President of our local Habitat Chapter.
In this role, he rallied a consistent cohort of 25 -30 students to join
him in his vision of eliminating poverty housing in our local community
and donating our funds to help Habitat chapters locally and across
the world. _______ spearheaded fundraising efforts such as Cartridges
for Kids and our annual holiday gift-wrapping pursuits at the local mall.
In addition, _______ community service is vast. He has
worked on different site locations in King County to build Habitat houses.
In 2003, he went to Atlanta, Georgia to build a shelter for troubled
teens. In 2004, he built a home for an impoverished Mexican family in
Tijuana, Mexico. Also, he served on a mission to San Cristobal de las
Casas with Habitat's Global Village Program in 2004. Most recently, he
went to Denver, Colorado to work with the urban homeless population in
2005. Last, his dedication
to the cause and recruiting efforts to spread the word to eliminate poverty
housing is immense.
Moreover, I highly recommend _______ as an outstanding
young person to contribute a clear vision of leadership in whatever pursuits
he sets his heart after. He has proven this time and again in his role
as President of Habitat for Humanity. Finally, _______ will bring quality,
drive and ambition wherever his path takes him.
