THERE IS NO MILITARY COMMITMENT IF A STUDENT ENROLLS IN
AFJROTC
Enrollment Procedures :
All students must enroll in the regular AFJROTC class during the first
OR second semester and should enroll as a “ Reserve Status Cadet ” during
the semester they are not enrolled in the regular AFJROTC class. See
AFJROTC instructors to enroll in reserve status. Cadets who want to be on
the armed or unarmed drill teams, color guard, or strength team must
enroll in the Early Morning Drill Class (6:00 am – 7:20 am Mon, Wed, and
Fri).
Juniors or seniors who are enrolling in AFJROTC for the first
time can complete the entire four-year AFJROTC program in the time they
have remaining at TBHS by taking concurrent AFJROTC classes . To do this,
juniors must enroll in one AFJROTC class each semester and seniors must
enroll in two AFJROTC classes each semester. One class will be the regular
AFJROTC class listed below and the other classes will be determined by the
AFJROTC instructors. See the AFJROTC instructors if you have
questions.

Aerospace Science IV – Global and Cultural
Studies
Course Description: This is a multidisciplinary
course that introduces students to various regions of the world from a
geographic, historical and cultural perspective. The course provides
increased international awareness and insight into foreign affairs that
permits a more educated understanding of other cultures and enhanced
knowledge of American's interests and role in the world. Geopolitical
issues such as terrorism, economics, politics, military issues, religion,
environmental concerns, human rights, disease, over population, literacy,
the migration of peoples and other cultural issues will be examined. The
regional areas included in this course are Europe, the Middle East, South
Asia, East Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The lessons include excellent
videos to provide a window into life and issues within the regions,
followed by a variety of hand-on activities created to engage the student.
Readings are also available to set the stage for each lesson, along with
workbook exercises suitable for in-class or homework assignments.
Leadership Education IV – Principles of
Management
This course is designed to help students
understand the fundamentals of management and managing themselves and
others. Emphasis is placed on allowing the student to see himself/herself
as a manager. Every organization, regardless of size, faces the challenge
of managing operations effectively. No matter how well a manager carries
out his or her job, there are always ways of doing at least part of the
task more effectively. Students will consider four building blocks of
leadership from a military and civilian perspective. Attention to these
four areas will help students develop a strong foundation to lead to lead
others – something that can be very valuable to them for the rest of their
lives. The four areas include management techniques, management decisions,
management functions, and managing self and others.
Early Morning
Drill Class: Thirty-six week course for 1.0 PE Elective Credit (6:00 am to
7:20 am on Mon, Wed, and Fri). This is an advanced drill class for our
armed/unarmed drill teams, color-guard, and strength team. This class is
required for team members, but any cadet can enroll for
credit.
Reserve Status Cadets
Students should enroll in
AFJROTC as a reserve status cadet during the semester they are not
enrolled in a regular AFJROTC class . Reserve students must wear the
AFJROTC uniform and can participate in all AFJROTC activities (i.e. drill
teams, field trips, community service, etc.) and hold select leadership
positions and earn some awards if they are active in AFJROTC. Students can
enroll by contacting an AFJROTC instructor. Credit is not awarded for
reserve status.
Concurrent AFJROTC Courses:

Other AFJROTC Important Information:
Co-curricular activities supplement all AFJROTC
courses and may include field trips, aircraft flights, armed/unarmed drill
teams, rocketry and radio-controlled aircraft clubs, obstacle courses,
fund-raising, community service, military balls, formal dinners, and/or a
week-long leadership school. Uniforms and textbooks are provided at no
cost. Students must wear the AFJROTC uniform once per week and comply with
specific grooming standards. Students are responsible for protecting,
maintaining and cleaning the uniform. A cleaning deposit is required at
the beginning of the year to cover the cost of cleaning at the end of the
year. Students must also pay for the day-to-day cleaning and any uniform
items that become lost, damaged, stolen, and/or not returned.
Career-minded AFJROTC cadets may be eligible to enter the military at a
higher rank than other enlistees. University-bound cadets – AFJROTC
participation may be noted when being considered for AFROTC scholarships
and the US Air Force Academy. |
