The purpose of school computers and equipment is for educational use only. Student use of computers and equipment is a privilege, not a right.
School computers have been configured with licensed software to provide tools for research and/or production of student work. Students may not inappropriately use school computers or equipment for any purpose.
Inappropriate use may consist of, but not be limited to the following:
General Usage
- Printing with disregard for the number of copies
or pages, or to the wrong printer.
- Unplugging peripherals
- Inappropriate art work or writing on school equipment
- Trying to access inappropriate websites
- Making, using, or distributing pirated copies of software
- Changing folder names or file names
- Logging into or attempting to access another person's
account
- Sending inappropriate messages or graphics
- Telling other students to do inappropriate things
- Following instructions from other students to do inappropriate things
- Negligently handling video, audio, or other electronic equipment
Acts that interfere with the operation of Computers and Related Technology
- Vandalizing of hardware, software, or equipment
- Downloading executable files (file names that end with .exe)
- Attempting to access the district network
- Altering start-up files
- Loading any software on a school computer
Restricted Usage - Tasks that may be done ONLY with teacher permission:
- Saving on the hard drive without teacher permission
- Personal use of computers without teacher permission
- Playing CD music on computers without teacher permission
- Taking any school-owned technology equipment without teacher permission
- Playing games (including website based games)
