What is AVID?
AVID
stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination
.It
is an elective class that is designed for students who want
to go to a four-year college and are willing to work hard to
get there. The class is very selective and highly focused and
requires a rigorous academic commitment from the student, the
parent and the AVID elective teacher.
Who can be in AVID?
Students
with academic potential:
Average
to high test scores
2.0 - 3.0 grade point average
College
potential with support
Desire
and determination
Meets one or more of the following criteria:
Historically underserved in 4-year colleges
Special
circumstances
What is the next step?
