If you need
volunteer hours for IB, college application requirements,
or just because you want to give some of your time, come to
the Career Center and see Mrs. Duvall for volunteer connections.
Two such volunteer connections:
Volunteer To Be A Big Brother
or Big Sister at Mark Twain Elementary
Big Brothers/Big
Sisters is looking for students who are willing to mentor a
student at Mark Twain Elementary School.
Interested high
school students would visit their Little Brother or Sister at
Mark Twain for one hour a week, every week, during the school
year. Together, the matches can spend time on the playground,
meet in the library, play board games in the counselor’s
office, or sometimes just hang out together.
Students who are
interested should contact Mrs. Duvall in the Career Center for
more information or visit the website at www.bigsandlittles.org
AmeriCorps has volunteer opportunities
available for students who would like to help elementary school
children with reading. Elementary schools who would like to
receive your help are: Mark Twain, Mirror Lake, Olympic View,
Sunnycrest and Wildwood. Contact Mrs. Duvall in the Career Center
for more information. Remember--volunteer hours are becoming
increasingly important on college applications, for lettters
of recommendation and job references.
