Thomas Jefferson High School has been an authorized IB Diploma school continuously since 1999. TJ received authorization in the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) in August 2013. All TJ 9th & 10th graders are full time IB MYP students. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education—that we believe is important for our students. The IB Middle Years Program, for students aged 11 to 16, provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers.* The IB Learner Profile is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century.
Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programs: the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP) or the Diploma Program (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). MYP Personal Projects:
Generally, all 10th graders complete a Personal Project with the support of their Approaches to Learning class. Classes of 2016 and 2017, if you still need to complete an MYP Personal Project, please look at the Requirements for 12th Grade Personal Projects (DEADLINE: March 31, 2016)or Requirements for 11th Grade Personal Projects (DEADLINE: May 23, 2016). If you do not complete a project, you cannot graduate!
