RaiderLinks is an interdisciplinary
curriculum that integrates the use of powerful technology to create
a genuine learning community that benefits every student.
The following guidelines will regulate the use of laptop
computers at school:
- Every student will respect every other student in the Raiderlinks'
community.
- Students will not touch, use, or alter another student's laptop or
software without permission.
- Mentors should teach people how to solve their own problems.
- Teachers will receive a student's immediate attention when the "eyes
up" directive is given.
- At TJHS, the laptop will be used as a powerful tool rather than a
toy.
- Unless they are part of an approved reaming experience, extraneous
computer sounds need to be eliminated from any laptop learning environment
(e.g. loud, distracting, or constant noise; start up music; bells; sound
effects; etc.).
- Games are expressly forbidden at school unless they are simulations
or educational programs approved by a Raiderlinks teacher.
- Every Raiderlinks student will abide by the FWSD's policy regarding
electronic information systems, Email, networks, and the Internet (R6133.4).
- Students will use electronic information, files, and the Infrared
ports to promote scholarship and intellectual growth.
- Laptops, software, and personal files will not be used to access
or store materials that are not in harmony with the school district's
mission, policies, or curriculum.
- All liquid and food products will be kept away from laptop learning
stations.
- As a courtesy, laptops with the greatest need for recharging will
be given priority in rooms that have a limited number of outlets.
- Class time must be used in a manner that is consistent with the student's
course of study and the expectations of the Raiderlinks faculty.
- Every screen saver, text, sound, and image that appear on the laptops
must be consistent with the rules, regulations, and spirit of the FWSD
and the Raiderlinks learning community.
- All software must be legally licensed.
- Remote connections will be limited to those designated or approved
by the school district.
