Graduation Requirements

Students attending Career Academy @ Truman must complete all the Washington State, Federal Way Public Schools, and Career Academy @ Truman graduation requirements in order to receive a diploma.

Level 1 –

These are our freshman and sophomore students. Students must complete all the course requirements and pass the writing and reading of the state assessments to progress to a level 2 student.

Course Requirements for Level 1:

Level 1a English (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 1b English (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 1a History (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 1b History (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 1a Science (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 1b Science (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Math (2.0 credits)
Health/Nutrition (CTE 1.0 credits)
Digitools 1 & 2 (CTE 1.0 credits)
Career Choices 1 & 2 (CTE 1.0 credits)
1.0 credits of additional CTE

Pass Writing and Reading of the WASL/HSPE
Pass *Math WASL/HSPE/EOC or continue to take math in Level 2

Level 2 –

These are our juniors and seniors who have met the requirements of a level 1 student. Students may start taking level 2 courses in a given area when ready but will not be considered a level 2 student until the student has completed all of the level 1 requirements listed above.

Course Requirements for Level 2:

Level 2a English (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 2b English (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 2a History (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
Level 2b History (equivalent to 1.0 credits)
*Math – Student must successfully complete Algebra 1 and Geometry
2.0 PE Credits
1.0 Fine Arts
1.0 Work-Based Learning (formerly called internships)
5.0 Elective Credits (CTE options offered through the building)

Students may complete requirements for level 2 through a variety of off campus options such as Puget Sound Skills Center and Running Start, however, any off campus selections must be approved through building administration to assure it meets our requirements and works within the student’s in building course schedule.

*Students are required to either pass the state assessment (WASL/HSPE/EOC).
