What's unique about Mark Twain?

Whole Child
All children are unique. They must be given the opportunity to grow emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually without fear of failure.

Peer and Cooperative Learning
Students work cooperatively rather than in isolation and have opportunities for both individual and group activities.

Diversity
Our school reflects a culturally diverse staff and student body that honors and celebrates individual diversity and uniqueness.

Assessment
Assessment provides information which helps determine future directions for both the student and the teacher.
Technology
Mark Twain has one computer lab which is used by every class at Mark Twain. Fourth and Fifth grade classrooms boast four students to every one computer in each classroom. Printers, scanners and a digital camera allow students to use technology to synthesize their knowledge in other curriculums and present it as multimedia presentations.

Inclusion
Each student who qualifies for a special program participates fully in their regular classroom. Specific needs are identified and met with the help of support teachers and educational assistants. Special Education, LES, and our Title 1 Schoolwide Program support students and teachers through direct services in the classroom.

School Leadership
The School Leadership Team meets once a month to ensure staff, parent and community involvement in deciding the future of our school.

Success for All
A Nationally recognized program with clinical and real life evidence that it works. Students learn to read with comprehension.
