Twin Lakes Elementary School Leadership Team Charter


Team's Purpose: The purpose of the School Leadership Team is to represent the various "stakeholder" groups in making recommendations and decisions that impact student learning at Twin Lakes Elementary. The team will:

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's Learning Plan.
  • Recommend utilization of resources.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Parent/Community Involvement Policy.

Team Norms: Trust, punctuality, hearing of all ideas, respect, positive contributions, fostering a team approach, commitment to make it work, timeframe, leader/facilitator, being succinct. All meetings are open to the public. Team members are the only participants who may vote at meetings.

Membership Selection Process: The group shall be comprised of six staff members and six parent/community members. Members will serve a two-year term, and half the members from each group (staff and parent/community) will be selected each year. The selection process for both groups will take place by the end of September.

Staff Representatives will be selected by their constituent groups, and will be responsible for bringing information to and from their groups.
• 1 primary (preschool through 3rd grade) classroom teacher
• 1 intermediate (4th through 5th grade) classroom teacher
• 1 support staff member (certificated staff not assigned to a classroom)
• 1 classified staff member
• 1 office staff member (to serve as the SLT secretary)

Parent/Community Representatives will submit applications through an open process, with selection made by the SLT. Representatives will be responsible for bringing information to and from their groups.
Five parent/community members representing each of these geographic areas:
• Dash Pt. Road/Adelaide area (off 21st Ave.) and area surrounding Decatur H.S., including Forest Village Apts. and Bayview Estates.
• West of 44th Ave., including Dash Pt./Palisades.
• South of 320th St. from Maplewood Apts. to Brigadoon/Olympic View boundaries.
• North of 320th St. from 36th Ave., including the north side of the Twin Lakes Golf Course.
• Outside the Twin Lakes service area (including families served by GATE, special programs, and flexible enrollment).
• Plus 1 representative from the Twin Lakes PTA.

Business/community partners will be invited to attend each year, once meeting dates are set.

Meetings: Meetings will be scheduled at least once a month from October through May, alternating between morning and evening times. The meeting day will be agreed upon by team members. The duty of "facilitator" will be rotated among the members. The office staff representatives will serve as the SLT secretary.
