What is Read & Lead?

The Read and Lead program is a tool to strengthen and enhance the student's reading skills,
make reading more challenging and  most of all FUN!!!!

We encourage the student to read as much as possible above the required reading for their schoolwork.  We believe good readers make good students.  To encourage students to reach this important goal, we offer incentives in the form of prizes for various levels of accomplishments throughout the year.  We also provide recognition certificates and a medal for those students who reach their goal by the end of the program.  All students receive a free book at the end of the year.

The Rules of Read & Lead:

*The participant can read the needed reading at home or at school to work towards their goal.

*Each 5-minute block of minutes must be marked off by a Teacher/Parent /Adult or by the student.

*Booklets will be turned in on designated days and returned to them same day.  The following week PTA will have a prize store for the students.  The students will receive a color-coded ticket with their total minutes for each month.  The prize store will be set up with color-coded tables.  The student may choose a prize from the table with their coordinating color. The tickets are to be used the day they receive them.  The students can not add monthly tickets together for a larger prize.

. NEW THIS YEAR!!!  Each class room has a reading goal.  If the class reaches that amount of minutes read or more, the entire class will receive an ice cream party!!

Preschool - 1000 minutes
Kindergarten - 1500 minutes
1st Grade - 2100 minutes
2nd Grade - 3000 minutes
3rd Grade - 4200 minutes
4th Grade - 5200 minutes
5th Grade - 6300 minutes
GATE class - 6300 minutes
