2007 Uniform Dress Code

have adopted a mandatory dress code at Valhalla to:

When
buying uniforms please keep in mind that not all clothing sold in the uniform
department of stores is in line with Valhalla’s uniform policy.
Valhalla
students are required to adhere to a mandatory dress code. The colors are solid navy blue, khaki and
white. Uniforms must be clean and in good condition.
Acceptable uniform choices
Straight-legged
pants/slacks or shorts – no pants with more than 4 pockets (2 in front, 2 in
back)
- No more than one size
large than waist
- No cargo pants or zippers on pant legs
- Hemmed, worn at the
waist
- Shorts hemmed no more
than two inches above the knee
- Belts are uniform
colors or black or brown
Tops
– collared tops (a solid, uniform color t-shirt may be worn underneath)
- Polo – 3 buttons with
collar, long or short sleeves
- May have a small amount of blue, white or khaki trim on polo collar
- Oxford style – button
front with collar – must be buttoned
- Turtle neck or mock
turtleneck
Sweaters/Sweatshirts
– worn with uniform top underneath
- Crew neck
sweatshirts/sweaters – no zipper or hoods
- Cardigan sweaters –
button front
- Sweater vests
Girls
also may wear skirts, skorts, jumpers, capris (standard uniform style)
- Hemmed no more than two
inches above knee
- Skirts/skorts/capris no
more than one size larger than waist
- Skirts/skorts/capris
worn at waist
- Uniform standard shorts
may be worn under skirts and jumpers
Shoes/socks/shoelaces
- Shoes must be closed
toes and heels with no more than one-inch heels
- Shoelaces must be tied
- Socks are to be solid
white, navy, or khaki in color
- Socks must be worn.
- Girls may wear white,
navy or skin-tone tights
Not acceptable
uniform choices
- Logos, emblems, or patterns on clothing, colored
t-shirts not allowed underneath.
- Over-sized or under-sized clothing
- Bandannas
- Denim, spandex, sweats, overalls
- No b aseball caps or visors allowed on school grounds
- No atheletic writstbands allowed on school grounds
- Make-up and jewelry standards follow guidelines in district
handbooks
- No sandals
(closed toed shoes must be worn for safety and allow for active play at recess and P.E.)
- No "heelys"- shoes with wheels
- No h oles on shirts and pants
*Shirts may be worn out if they are not longer than the top of wrist when arm is extended to body. If longer, shirts must be
tucked in. Sweatshirts or sweaters may
be worn over the top of the tucked in shirt.
Jackets may not be worn in the
classroom. If the student is cold, a
uniform color sweatshirt or sweater may be worn.
